Canada Hikes Settlement Funds for Rural & Francophone Immigration by 30%

Canada’s immigration department (IRCC) has increased the money people need to show when applying for two special immigration programs — the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot (FCIP).

The minimum settlement funds have gone up by about 30%.

• A single applicant now needs 2,544 CAD.
• A family now needs 10,507 CAD.

This change started on July 29.

These programs help bring skilled foreign workers to small towns and French-speaking communities in Canada to fill job shortages. To qualify, applicants must:

• Get a job offer from an approved employer in the community.
• Be approved by the local economic development group.
• Meet requirements for education, work experience, language skills, and have enough settlement funds.

Once approved, they can apply directly to the federal government for permanent residence.
