കാനഡയിലെ ഗുരുദ്വാരയിൽ ഖലിസ്ഥാൻ എംബസി സ്ഥാപനം; ഇന്ത്യ–കാനഡ ബന്ധം വീണ്ടും അനിശ്ചിതത്വത്തിൽ

കാനഡയിലെ സറേയിലുള്ള ഒരു സിഖ് ഗുരുദ്വാര, ഖാലിസ്ഥാൻ എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സിഖ് രാഷ്ട്രം സൃഷ്ടിക്കുക എന്ന ആശയത്തെ പിന്തുണയ്ക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രതീകാത്മക “ഖാലിസ്ഥാൻ എംബസി” സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. 2023-ൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട ഖാലിസ്ഥാനി അനുഭാവിയായ ഹർദീപ് സിംഗ് നിജ്ജാറിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലായിരുന്നു ഈ ഗുരുദ്വാര. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മരണം ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്കും കാനഡയ്ക്കും ഇടയിൽ ഇതിനകം തന്നെ സംഘർഷം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിരുന്നു.

നിരോധിത സംഘടനയായ “സിഖ്‌സ് ഫോർ ജസ്റ്റിസ്” ഖാലിസ്ഥാൻ ഹിതപരിശോധന നടത്താൻ പദ്ധതിയിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതിന് തൊട്ടുമുമ്പാണ് ഈ എംബസി തുറക്കുന്നത്. ഈ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെ ഇന്ത്യ തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശീയ സുരക്ഷയ്ക്ക് ഗുരുതരമായ ഭീഷണിയായി കാണുന്നു, കൂടാതെ അത്തരം ഗ്രൂപ്പുകൾക്കെതിരെ നടപടിയെടുക്കാൻ കാനഡയോട് വളരെക്കാലമായി ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്.

അടുത്തിടെ നടന്ന ജി 7 ഉച്ചകോടിയിൽ ഇന്ത്യയും കാനഡയും തമ്മിലുള്ള നയതന്ത്ര ബന്ധം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനെ ഈ പുതിയ സംഭവം ബാധിച്ചേക്കാം.

Khalistan ‘Embassy’ in Canadian Gurdwara Worsens India-Canada Ties

A Sikh gurdwara in Surrey, Canada, has set up a symbolic “Khalistan embassy,” which supports the idea of creating a separate Sikh nation called Khalistan. This gurdwara was once led by Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani supporter who was murdered in 2023. His death had already created tension between India and Canada.

The opening of this so-called embassy comes just before a planned Khalistan referendum by the banned group “Sikhs for Justice.” India sees these activities as a serious threat to its national security, and has long been asking Canada to take action against such groups.

For the first time, Canada’s intelligence agency (CSIS) has admitted that Khalistani extremists in Canada pose a threat. This marks a change in how Canadian authorities view the issue.

Recently, four people were arrested in connection with Nijjar’s murder. However, India remains concerned, especially about Khalistani groups allegedly planning and funding violence from Canada.

This latest incident may damage the improving diplomatic relations between India and Canada, which had started to recover during the recent G7 summit.
