Canada to See a Quick Shift from Fall to Winter This November

Canada is expected to begin November with mild, fall-like weather, but things may change quickly by the end of the month. Weather experts say the country will go from above-normal warmth early on to colder, wintry conditions later in November.

At the start of the month, much of Canada — from British Columbia’s Interior to northern Ontario — will feel warmer than usual. However, by mid to late November, colder air will move in, bringing near or below-normal temperatures to many areas.

A more active storm pattern will also bring rain and snow from coast to coast. The B.C. coast and Atlantic Canada may see more rain, while the Prairies and eastern regions could get early snow.

By the end of November, a strong pattern shift is expected, turning much of the country from mild fall weather to full winter mode. Snowfall could rise sharply, especially from the central Prairies to the Maritimes.

Snow is normal in November for many Canadian cities, including Calgary and St. John’s, where totals often reach double digits. Areas near the Great Lakes could also see lake-effect snow later this month.
