Air Canada Flight Attendants Reject Wage Offer

Air Canada flight attendants have strongly rejected the company’s latest wage offer, with 99.1% of union members voting against it. The rejection shows how serious the wage dispute has become.

The issue will now move into mediation and, if needed, could go to binding arbitration. Until then, the current agreement stays in place, which means flights will not be disrupted.

The union says the proposed raises — 12% for many junior attendants and 8% for senior attendants, with smaller increases later — are still not enough. According to them, even with these raises, many attendants would still earn below the federal minimum wage.

This dispute comes right after a three-day strike, which ended when the federal government stepped in to begin mediation. The union has criticised Ottawa’s involvement, saying it tilted the balance of negotiations in favour of the airline.
