Nova Scotia Farmers Get More Support During Drought

Farmers in Nova Scotia are getting extra help from the government as they deal with a severe drought. The province has added more funding to the On-Farm Water Management Program, which helps farmers build water sources like wells and ponds for irrigation.

In total, CAD 475,000 will be invested to improve water access. This will support both farmers already in the program and new applicants who need help.

Officials say the move is important not only for farming but also for food security and reducing the risk of wildfires in dry weather.

The president of the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture said the support will help farmers keep their operations running despite the tough conditions.
