Indian-Canadian Businessman Killed in Canada: Gang Violence Sparks Fear Among Indian Community

A 68-year-old Indian-origin businessman, Darshan Singh Sahsi, was shot dead outside his car in Abbotsford, Canada. Police say the attack was carried out by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a criminal group now declared a terrorist organization in Canada.

Soon after the murder, Goldy Dhillon, a member of Bishnoi’s network, posted online claiming responsibility for the killing. Officials believe the murder is part of a series of violent acts linked to the same gang, which has been involved in several high-profile crimes, including the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

In another recent incident, gunshots were fired outside the home of Punjabi singer Chanio Natth, raising further fears of gang-related retaliation.
