Canada and UAE Sign Investment Deal as PM Carney Begins Talks for Full Trade Agreement

Canada’s Prime Minister Carney has signed a new investment-protection pact with the United Arab Emirates during his visit to Abu Dhabi. The agreement aims to make it safer and easier for businesses from both countries to invest in each other’s markets. Canada and the UAE also launched discussions for a wider trade and economic partnership.

During the trip, Carney met top UAE leaders, including President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Industry Minister Sultan al-Jaber, to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties. He also held meetings with major investment groups such as Mubadala, MGX, ADQ, and ADIC.

Media access during the visit was limited due to ongoing global concerns about the UAE’s alleged links to Sudan’s conflict — allegations the UAE denies.
