500 കിലോ കോക്കെയിന്‍ പിടിച്ചു! പീല്‍ പൊലീസിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ മയക്കുമരുന്ന് വേട്ട

2025 ഫെബ്രുവരിയിലാണ് ആദ്യത്തെ പ്രധാന പിടികൂടൽ നടന്നത്, അംബാസഡർ ബ്രിഡ്ജിൽ ഒരു ട്രക്കിൽ നിന്ന് 127 കിലോഗ്രാം കൊക്കെയ്ൻ കണ്ടെത്തി. മെയ് മാസത്തിൽ ബ്ലൂ വാട്ടർ ബ്രിഡ്ജിൽ നിന്ന് മറ്റൊരു 50 കിലോഗ്രാം കൂടി പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. മൊത്തത്തിൽ, 47 മില്യൺ ഡോളറിലധികം വിലമതിക്കുന്ന 479 കിലോഗ്രാം കൊക്കെയ്നും രണ്ട് സെമി ഓട്ടോമാറ്റിക് തോക്കുകളും പോലീസ് കണ്ടെടുത്തു. ഒമ്പത് പേരെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു, അവരിൽ പലരും ഇന്ത്യൻ വംശജരാണെന്ന് റിപ്പോർട്ടുണ്ട്. ആഗോള ബന്ധങ്ങളുള്ള കാനഡയിൽ വളർന്നുവരുന്ന അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര മയക്കുമരുന്ന് കടത്ത് സംഘങ്ങൾക്കെതിരെ ഈ ഓപ്പറേഷൻ വലിയ തിരിച്ചടിയായി എന്ന് പീൽ പോലീസ് പറയുന്നു.

Massive Drug Bust: Peel Police Seize $47 Million Worth of Cocaine in Historic Operation

Peel Police have made their biggest drug bust ever through an investigation called Project Pelican. The police found that a group of criminals — including several individuals of Indian origin — was using commercial trucks to smuggle large amounts of cocaine from the United States into Canada, mainly into Peel and Toronto. With help from the RCMP, DEA, and CBSA, police uncovered a well-planned operation that also used storage facilities to hide the drugs. Authorities say the presence of people of Indian background shows how organized crime networks are involving diaspora communities in dangerous illegal activities.

The first major seizure happened in February 2025, when 127 kg of cocaine was found in a truck at the Ambassador Bridge. Another 50 kg was seized in May at the Blue Water Bridge. In total, police recovered 479 kg of cocaine, valued at over $47 million, along with two semi-automatic guns. Nine people were arrested, and several of them were reportedly of Indian descent. Peel Police say this operation has struck a major blow against international drug trafficking rings that are growing in Canada with global connections.
