Modi-Carney Meet: India and Canada Begin a New Chapter!

In a major boost to Canada-India relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney held talks on June 16, 2026, during the G7 Summit in France. The meeting marks the most significant engagement between the two countries since diplomatic tensions rose in late 2023.

During the talks, both leaders agreed to speed up negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The proposed trade deal aims to strengthen economic cooperation and is expected to be finalized before the end of 2026.
