Canada Overtakes U.S. in Global Passport Power Ranking

The Canadian passport has overtaken the U.S to become the eighth most powerful passport. This means Canadian passport holders can travel visa-free or obtain a visa-on-arrival to 184 countries. Canada now shares this position with Estonia and the UAE.

The index ranks passports primarily based on the number of countries that a passport holder can travel to without a visa.

The U.S passport, with visa-free access to 182 countries, has slipped to the tenth position. Singapore has retained the top position as the most powerful passport, offering access to 193 countries. Japan and South Korea share the second place, with extensive visa-free access. Several European countries such as Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain share the third place.
