Canada Announces New Immigration Fees Effective December 1

Canada has increased several immigration-related fees effective December 1, 2025, affecting applications for inadmissibility processing, IEC work permits, restoration of temporary status, and more. The revised fee structure now ranges from $246.25 to $1,231.00, depending on the application type.

As part of the update, the cost for Returning to Canada after removal has risen to $492.50, while Temporary Resident Permits used for compelling-entry cases now cost $246.25. Fees for criminal rehabilitation continue to vary based on whether the offense falls under simple or serious criminality.

IRCC has confirmed that anyone who submitted applications before the fee increase using older rates must now pay the difference. Applicants can calculate the additional amount through IRCC’s online tool and are required to upload the new payment receipt as instructed. Each payment generates a separate receipt, and payments may be made in full or through instalments.

The update also raises the IEC (International Experience Canada) work permit processing fee from $179.75 to $184.75. IRCC has announced that the 2025 IEC pool is now closed, with profiles for the 2026 season set to open once the new round begins. Restoration of temporary status rules remain unchanged, requiring applicants to apply within 90 days of status expiry.
