കാൽഗറിയിൽ കനത്തമഴ; ആശങ്ക ഉയരുന്നു

കാല്‍ഗറിയിലും സമീപ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും കനത്ത മഴ തുടരുന്നതിനാല്‍ വെള്ളപ്പൊക്ക മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നല്‍കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചില പ്രദേശങ്ങളില്‍ 50 മുതല്‍ 100 മില്ലിമീറ്റര്‍ വരെ മഴ ലഭിക്കുമെന്നും ചില സ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ മഴ ലഭിക്കുമെന്നും പരിസ്ഥിതി, കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാന കാനഡ (ECCC) പറയുന്നു.

കനത്ത മഴയെ തുടർന്ന് ബോ നദിയിലെയും എൽബോ നദിയിലെയും ജലനിരപ്പ് ഗണ്യമായി ഉയർന്നു. ശക്തവും അപകടകരവുമായ ജലപ്രവാഹം കാരണം, ഇനിയൊരു അറിയിപ്പ് ഉണ്ടാകുന്നതുവരെ ബോ നദിയിൽ ബോട്ടിംഗ് നിരോധിച്ചതായി അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചു.

നഗര ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ 24 മണിക്കൂറും സ്ഥിതിഗതികൾ സൂക്ഷ്മമായി നിരീക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. വർദ്ധിച്ച ജലനിരപ്പ് നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നതിനായി ഗ്ലെൻമോർ റിസർവോയർ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള ജലസംഭരണികൾ മുൻകൂട്ടി ക്രമീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പൊതുജന സുരക്ഷയ്ക്കായി, സമീപത്തുള്ള ബാൻഫ് നാഷണൽ പാർക്കിലെ നിരവധി നടപ്പാതകളും വിനോദസഞ്ചാര കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളും താൽക്കാലികമായി അടച്ചിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

നദീതീരങ്ങൾക്ക് സമീപമുള്ള താഴ്ന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നവർ ജാഗ്രത പാലിക്കാനും ഔദ്യോഗിക അപ്‌ഡേറ്റുകൾ പാലിക്കാനും അഭ്യർത്ഥിക്കുന്നു. വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കമുള്ള റോഡുകളിലൂടെ വാഹനമോടിക്കരുതെന്നും ഡ്രൈവർമാർക്ക് നിർദ്ദേശമുണ്ട്, കാരണം സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾ പെട്ടെന്ന് മാറുകയും അപകടകരമാവുകയും ചെയ്യും.

മഴ പെയ്യുന്നതിനനുസരിച്ച് കാലാവസ്ഥയും നദിയുടെ അവസ്ഥയും അധികൃതർ നിരീക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്.

Heavy Rain Puts Calgary at Risk

Calgary and nearby areas are under a flood warning as heavy rainfall continues across the region. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says some areas could receive between 50 and 100 mm of rain, with a few locations expected to get even more.

The heavy rain has caused water levels in the Bow River and Elbow River to rise significantly. Due to the strong and dangerous water flow, authorities have banned boating on the Bow River until further notice.

City officials are closely monitoring the situation around the clock. Reservoirs, including the Glenmore Reservoir, have been adjusted in advance to manage the increased water levels. For public safety, several walking trails and tourist spots in nearby Banff National Park have also been temporarily closed.

Residents living in low-lying areas near riverbanks are being urged to stay alert and follow official updates. Drivers are also advised not to travel through flooded roads, as conditions can change quickly and become dangerous.

Authorities continue to monitor the weather and river conditions as the rainfall event develops.
