Illegal employment check in Canada by CBSA and RCMP

A man has been fined $70,000 after pleading guilty to hiring foreign workers in Canada without proper authorization. The case was uncovered through a joint investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Investigators found that more than 90 foreign nationals were working illegally in several resort hotels in the Banff and Jasper areas of Alberta. Many of the workers were from Mexico, while others had travelled from Ontario. They were recruited and placed in jobs in the hospitality sector without valid work permits.

Authorities said the man organized and directed this illegal hiring scheme across multiple locations. Following the investigation, he admitted to the charges in court.

In addition to the $70,000 fine, the court also ordered probation and community service. Officials say the case highlights the importance of following immigration and labour laws, especially in busy tourism regions where demand for workers is high.
