പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം രാജ്യത്ത് ജോലി ചെയ്യാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്ന നിയമങ്ങളിൽ കാനഡ കാര്യമായ മാറ്റങ്ങൾ നടപ്പിലാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് കാനഡയിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്യാൻ അനുവദിക്കുന്ന പോസ്റ്റ് ഗ്രാജുവേഷൻ വർക്ക് പെർമിറ്റ് (PGWP) ആർക്കൊക്കെ ലഭിക്കും എന്നതിനെ ഈ മാറ്റങ്ങൾ ബാധിക്കുന്നു.

2024 നവംബർ 1 മുതൽ, 178 പ്രത്യേക മേഖലകളിലെ നോൺ-ഡിഗ്രി പ്രോഗ്രാമുകളിൽ (ഡിപ്ലോമകൾ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റുകൾ പോലുള്ളവ) ചേരുന്ന വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് ഇനി PGWP-ക്ക് അർഹതയുണ്ടായിരിക്കില്ല. അതായത്, ഈ പ്രോഗ്രാമുകൾ പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം അവർക്ക് കാനഡയിൽ താമസിച്ച് ജോലി ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയില്ല.

ആരോഗ്യ സംരക്ഷണം, സാമൂഹിക സേവനങ്ങൾ, വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം, വാണിജ്യം, വ്യാപാരം തുടങ്ങിയ ഉയർന്ന തൊഴിൽ ആവശ്യകതയുള്ള പഠന മേഖലകളിൽ ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കാനാണ് കാനഡ ഈ തീരുമാനം എടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.

കൂടുതൽ തൊഴിലാളികളെ ആവശ്യമുള്ള മേഖലകളെ പിന്തുണയ്ക്കുന്നതിനായി സർക്കാർ യോഗ്യമായ പഠന പരിപാടികളുടെ എണ്ണം 782 ൽ നിന്ന് 920 ആയി വർദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചു.

Canada Changes Rules for Post-Graduation Work Permits: What Students Need to Know

Canada has implemented significant changes to the rules governing international students who wish to work in the country after completing their studies. These changes affect who can get a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which allows students to work in Canada after completing their studies.

Starting November 1, 2024, students who join non-degree programs (like diplomas or certificates) in 178 specific fields will no longer be eligible for a PGWP. This means they won’t be able to stay and work in Canada after finishing these programs.

However, students who are already studying or planning to join degree programs (like bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD) before November 1 are not affected by this rule.

Canada has made this decision to focus on study fields that have high job demand, like: Healthcare, Social services, Education, and Commerce and trade

The government has also expanded the number of eligible study programs from 782 to 920 to support sectors that need more workers.
