In Flin Flon, a city near the Saskatchewan border, residents are being fully evacuated as winds have pushed flames dangerously close. About 5,000 people have already left, and that number may rise.

Many First Nations in northern Saskatchewan have declared a state of emergency as the situation worsens. Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew announced that 17,000 people need to evacuate, leading to the province also declaring an emergency. He has asked Prime Minister Mark Carney for help, requesting that armed forces be sent to assist with the evacuation. Premier Wab Kinew expressed his belief that this is the largest evacuation in Manitoba’s recent history.
