India Not Invited to G7 Summit in Canada

India has not received an invitation to the upcoming G7 Summit scheduled to be held in Canada from June 15 to 17. The summit will focus on global challenges, including the Russia-Ukraine war and rising tensions in West Asia.

Sources suggest that India’s exclusion may be linked to ongoing diplomatic tensions with Canada following the murder of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada has accused India of involvement in the killing — an allegation India has strongly denied. The incident has caused a significant rift in relations between the two countries.

The G7 consists of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan. While India is not a member, it has often been invited as a guest to recent summits. Its absence this year is seen as a sign of strained ties with the host nation, Canada.
